Pioneer ग्रुपचे असोसिएटिव्ह एडिटर आणि जर्नलिस्ट अशी त्यांच्या ट्विटर प्रोफाइलवर बायोग्राफी दिलेली आहे… कांचन गुप्ता त्यांचे नाव… ट्विटरवर आमच्यात झालेली आजची चर्चा मी खाली जशीच्या-तशी देतोय, त्यावर तुमचे मत मात्र अवश्य नोंदवा…

इतरही अनेक जण त्यांच्याशी बोलत होते, पण जसे काही आपण कुठलेतरी “दादा” आहोत, असा त्यांचा एकूण भाव (व्यक्तिमत्व) मी अनुभवलं… या चर्चेबद्दल तुम्हा लोकांच्या चांगल्या, वाईट, विरोधी, टिका/प्रतिक्रिया जरूर नोंदवा… शिवाय जेम्स लेनच्या “Shivaji – The Hindu King In Islamic India” पुस्तकावरील सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने उठवलेल्या बंदीबाबतही तुमचे मत जाणून घ्यायला आवडेल!

मी माझ्या प्रत्येक tweet मधून हेच सांगण्याच्या प्रयत्न करत होता कि फक्त हक्क आणि व्यक्ती स्वातंत्र्य हेच महत्वाचे नसतात. पण कांचन गुप्त ऐकलाच तयार नाहीत. काही बोलता आल नाही म्हणून माझ्या इंग्रजीचा विनोद मात्र त्यांना करता आला.

सर्वांचे प्रतिक्रियांकरीता आभार… प्रकाशकानेच आता पुस्तकाच्या छपाईस नकार दर्शवला असल्याने जे सध्या दिसताहेत तेच पुस्तके उपलब्ध असतील! त्यामुळे तरी बंदी असली काय अन् नसली काय, काहीच फरक पडत नाही…
कांचन गुप्ता यांच्याशी व इतर अनेक जणांशी आजदेखील चर्चा झाली, एवढी मोठी चर्चा येथे परत प्रकाशित करणं तसं फारच अवघड असल्याने मी ती पुन्हा प्रकाशित करू शकत नाही, पण तुम्ही कोणत्याही वेळी @me_hindu, @sdhamande @KanchanGupta आणि मी म्हणजेच @suruwat या सगळ्यांच्या प्रोफाइलवरील सर्वच्या-सर्व ट्विट्स उघडपणे पाहू शकता… कांचन गुप्तांनी सकाळपासून उत्तर दिले नाही ते आत्ता दिले, ते असे:

बरोबर केलस! असच हव त्या बयेला. पुस्तकात शिवाजी महाराज दादाजी कोंडदेवांचे पुत्र असतील अशी शंका व्यक्त केली आहे. म्हणून सर्वांच्याच भावना भडकल्या.

च्यायला …काय माजलेत बघ ना……….
बरखा दत्त…कांचन गुप्ता हे स्वतःला खूपच oversmart समजतात…मराठीत म्हण आहे ना “अतिशहाणा त्याचा बैल रिकामा”…बस्स त्यातलाच प्रकार आहे हा…..तरीही कधी कधी मला एका गोष्टीच वाईट वाटत ते म्हणंजे आगरकर टिळकांसारख्या कसलेल्या पत्रकारांचा वारसा लाभलेल्या ह्या महाराष्ट्रतात त्यांचा वारसा चालवणारा असा कोणच दिसत नाही….कुमार केतकर ..भारत कुमार राउत हे लोक आहेत परंतु आजकाल प्रत्येक जण safe game खेळत आहे त्यामुळे कांचन गुप्ता सारख्या अतिशहाण्यांना मोकळे मैदान मिळत आहे…तुला चैतन्य कुंटे माहितीय?? ह्याने सुद्धा आजकालच्या पत्रकारीतेवारती बरखा दत्त ला चांगले फैलावर घेतले होते परंतु NDTV आणि बरखा दत्त ने त्याला माफी मागायला लावली…..
शेवटी आजकालच्या पत्रकारांची पत्रकारिता अतिशय खालच्या दर्जाची होत चाललीय हे मात्र खरय…

पहिल्यांदा नांव ऐकले हे कांचन गुप्ता.
पुस्तकात काय दिलंय हे नक्की माहिती नाही, पण यावर बरीच चर्चा झालेली आहे. एके ठिकाणी स्लॅंग भाषेत मराठी लोकं जोकींगली ……. हे स्टेटमेंट बरंच गाजतंय नेट वर. खरंच तसं काही पुस्तकात असेल तर पुस्तकावर बंदी घालायलाच हवी .

ज्यांना महाराष्ट्र व महाराज यांच्याबद्दल काहीच माहिती किंवा चुकीची माहिती आहे त्यांच्याकडून काय अपेक्षा करणार ?
ठराविक मर्यादेच्यावर प्रसिद्धी किंवा स्टेट्स मिळाले कि लोक सो कौल्ड सेकुलर असल्यासारखे वागतात किंवा बोलतात त्यातलाच हा प्रकार आहे

छान काम केलसं. यांना प्रतिकार नाही केला तर हे लोक आपल्या मनाअत येइल तसे वागतील व बोलतील. आणि स्वतःचे म्हणने खरे करुन घेतील.

आजचा टाइम्स ऑफ ईंडीया वाचला का? सुप्रीम कोर्टाने का परवानगी दिली आहे ते लिहिलंय त्या मधे. अतिशय बॅलन्स्ड डिसिजन आहे कोर्टाचा.
ते वादग्रस्त वाक्य काढून टाकणार आहेत. ते एक वाक्य सोडल्यास त्या पुस्तकात आक्षेपार्ह काहीच निदर्शनास आणून देऊ शकले नाही महाराष्ट्र सरकार.
जर ते वाक्य काढलं तर ते एक साधं इतिहासाचं पुस्तक होतं, पण ते वाक्य असेल तर एक वादग्रस्त!!
आऊट ऑफ प्रपोर्शन ब्लो अप केल्या जाऊ नये हा इशू असे माझे मत आहे. जास्त वाद विवाद निदर्शने केली तर त्या पुस्तकाचा खप वाढेल यात शंकाच नाही. म्हणून ते टाळावे आणि अनुल्लेखाने मारावे त्याला.

पटलं काका… त्यामुळेच मी कालपासून ह्या गोष्टीचा गाजावाजा करणं टाळलं, उगाच पुस्तकाचा प्रसार व्हायला मदत होतीय, हे कळल्यामुळे… आधीच आपल्या म्हणण्याला मान देत नाहीत, वरून आपलीच दादागीरी चालू ठेवतात, त्यामुळेच मी कांचन गुप्ताचा देखील नाद सोडला, त्याच्याच एका वाक्यात त्याला गुंतवून, खालील प्रतिक्रियेत मी त्याला विचारलेला प्रश्न तुम्ही वाचला असेलच… असो… पुस्तकातील “तसं” आक्षेपार्ह लिखान हटवलं आणि लेनला अख्ख्या महाराष्ट्राची त्याच्या विकृत लेखाबद्दल माफी मागायला लावली तर मग प्रश्नच शिल्लक उरणार नाहीत, तेवढंच तर हवंय!
